coolest. keds. on. the. block.

Between freelancing this summer and gearing up for vacay this Friday (!!!), keeping this blog updated has been easier said than done!  Believe me, I so wish that I could be more on top of things... Until that time comes, however, I did want to share a quick preview post.  I'm currently having a major Keds moment.  I know, I know, I'm so late on this ultra summery + sporty trend.  Let's just say that I was in Kate Spade a few weeks ago and a certain pair of navy KSNY x Keds sneaks were on sale and I just had to try them on. And then, of course, I just had to buy them.  What can I say, sometimes the stars align and it's just meant to be!  With all that said, I've shared a pic of my new sneakers above (#navyornothing) and next week you can look forward to a post of how I plan on styling them.  In the meantime, check out one of my latest articles for Brit + Co on "13 Ways to Style Flat Sneakers!"

Are you loving Keds as much as I am?  How would you style them?  Leave a comment below!

july. the. list.

Well, I’ve done it again.  My “July List” is making its debut midway through the month...oops.  I guess it’s better late than never, right?! I’m not even going to make excuses this go-around… As far as what I’m currently lusting over:  basically anything and everything remotely summery!  Despite the fact that summer is flying by (cue sad face), fall attire is as far from my radar as it can get.  With all that said, here’s my very belated July list:

july. the. list.

1. Linen Tee in Triple Stripe (J.Crew)- ...because one can never have too many paper-thin tees.  Plus, I love the accented stripes and very well-placed pocket.
2. Printed Silk Snood (J.Crew)- THE tassels! …and the vibrant coral print.  I imagine this being paired with a simple white v-neck tee, denim cutoffs and loafers.
3. Pale Pink Drawstring Sleeveless Chiffon Dress (Goodnight Macaroon)- Carly of College Prepster was so right.  Goodnight Macaroon is inundated with hidden gems is it bad that I want everything, this peachy-pink chiffon number included?
4. The Lip Slip by Sara Happ One Luxe Gloss (J.Crew)- I’m not typically a lip gloss wearer, but every now and then I do get tempted by a product… I figure if J.Crew carries it, then it must be good.
5. Vintage Style Daisy Print Pastel Blue Retro Skater Dress (Goodnight Macaroon)- A skater dress with daisies that has Taylor Swift written all over it.  Wait, T. Swift actually already owns it...
6. Oversized Hepcat Shades (Madewell)- I’ve seriously been yearning for a new pair of shades (or two!) this entire summer.  From reflective lenses to girly pink frames, I can’t seem to narrow in on one particular style.  BUT I do know that these hepcat shades are as rad as they come.
7. Bits & Baubles Jewelry Bag (Kate Spade)- Of course, Kate Spade thought to design their very own drawstring travel bags. I’m l-o-v-i-n-g these two:  “The Perfect Pair,” because I’m clearly a hoarder of ballet flats, and “Bits & Baubles” since I can’t seem to stop buying jewelry.
8. Babylon Ring (Tory Burch)- As of lately, oversized rings have taken a backseat to delicate beauties like this stunning pearl statement piece à la Tory Burch.
9. On the Dot Idiom Bangle (Kate Spade)- Polka dot lovers everywhere can rejoice, because KS’s “on the dot” idiom bangle is SPOT-on!
10. Reagan Black Grounded Floral Print (Equipment)- Unleash your inner hippie-loving-flower-child self with this youthful top reminiscent of the ‘90s (think Drew Barrymore).
11. Bedford Square Kinslow (Kate Spade)- The ultimate weekend/on-the-go bag in a pretty minty-fresh hue.

french. words.

Just checking in on this Sunday evening to share an Instagram account that I’m currently loving.  It’s been a while since I’ve done a roundup of my favorite Insta-feeds and the one that I’m about to share today is a total gem.  Seriously though, so. good.  If you’re a lover of all things Parisian, would never turn down a Ladurée macaron and swear by your beloved Breton stripes (who doesn’t?), then French Words is for you. Besides the perfectly minimalist aesthetic of each post (and amazing illustrations), you get to discover a new French word every day!  Oui, oui!  I don’t even remember how I stumbled across French Words, but I’m so glad that I did because I love seeing each new post pop up on my feed.  Not to mention the fact that to this day, I still regret that I never took French in high school (four years of Spanish, why?!).

Here are a few of my favorite posts…all photo credits go to French Words, of course!

Stripes for days...

French Words is also on Twitter but being as #instaobsessed as I am naturally, I prefer their Instagram feed.  They also recently came out with a newsletter where you can sign up to receive a podcast with all of the pronunciations of the words featured each week.  One French word a day, yes please!

What are your favorite Instagram feeds to follow? Leave a comment below, so that I can check them out! :)

fourth. of. july. recap.

While July 4th may have come and gone, I’m not ready to let go just quite yet.  Though summer only began a few weeks ago, we all know that the Fourth of July is kind of like the halfway point. It’s bittersweet, really. Echoing a sentiment that I’ve heard a lot lately, at this moment in time, I never want summer to end.  Can we make that possible?

To capture the spirit of our country’s most patriotic holiday, I thought it would be fun to do a photo post recapping my weekend (or rather #ootd).  Speaking of the Fourth, mine was super chill shopping, watching fireworks (kind of…) and relaxing.  I couldn’t have asked for more!

Naturally, I opted for a navy blue fit-and-flare dress (with a white panel on the back) by Eight Sixty and a cute nautical anchor charm necklace.  My red-and-blue striped Clare Vivier zip-wallet ended up being the perfect accessory to my dress.  To top it all off, I kept my manicure nice and simple. Red nails, a blue accent nail and glittery tips!

How was your Fourth of July weekend?  If you did a recap post, then share it below in the comments, I’d love to see it :)
