shorts. of. summer.

Obsessed. (Bicycle Cruiser Shorts in Navy)
Hip-hip!  As of last Sunday, summer has officially arrived.  Cue the long summer nights, endless scoops of ice cream + fun in the sun time (with SPF of course).  In honor of the start of summer, I thought that I would share my picks for the prettiest, most print-tactic shorts of the season.  But first, let me backtrack a second by saying that I've actually already found (and proceeded to invest in) the perfect pair.  Photographed above are the bicycle printed shorts of my dreams.  I mean, they're pretty perf, right?!  The navy + pink, the effortless fit, the BICYCLES!  Yes, please!

Take a peek below at some other shorts (from effortless to preppy to cool-girl) that I currently have my eye on... I call dibs on A.L.C.'s stunning flower print silk shorts!  Which pair is your fave?

five. for. friday.

Just in time for the weekend, I've rounded up five interesting/noteworthy/potentially random things that are currently on my radar.  I thoroughly enjoy how this whole "five for friday" series is going even if I only get around to posting an installment every few weeks.  Hopefully, you've been finding it at least somewhat insightful, too!  Here we go...
All photographs featured above are courtesy of the corresponding websites as cited below.
1. Oh Joy! for Band-Aid (Oh Joy!) // Too.  Stinkin'.  Cute.  That's all I'm saying.  First I was obsessed with Cynthia Rowley's collaboration with Band-Aid way back when, and now I can't get enough of the Oh Joy! x Band-Aid collab.  In a nutshell, think really pretty colors + fun, whimsical designs.
2. Behind-the-Scenes Alexa Chung's July Cover Shoot (Harper's Bazaar UK) // Tell everyone you know, Alexa Chung is on the cover of Harper's Bazaar UK's July issue. I don't know about you, but I love A. Chung.  She's the ultimate cool-girl with a great sense of humor and an even more killer style to match.  That said, this behind-the-scenes video is a gem.
3. How to Design for Your Brand (Canva) // Whether you have a business or not, branding is super important.  It may sound crazy, but everyone has a personal brand (yes, including you!).  I, myself, shouldn't be talking as my brand (read: resume, online portfolio, this blog!) could use a facelift of sorts.  When going through my webmail, I stumbled upon a link to this branding resource that walks you through colors, fonts and all that jazz.  While a lot of the info is a refresher, it's still valuable to know when crafting your brand. (BTW, I actually find Canva Design School in general to be a helpful resource.)
4. Burberry Prorsum Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 (Burberry) // I feel like I've professed my love for Burberry one too many times.  Well, here we go again... Normally I don't make it a point to watch the menswear runway shows, but after seeing so many snippets and previews on Instagram, I couldn't NOT watch it.  I'm so glad that I did, because as per usual, the clothes were tailored + undeniably British with hints of lace popping up everywhere.  Oh, and, Christopher Bailey enlisted Rhodes (an up-and-coming artist) to perform at the presentation alongside a live orchestra.  NBD.
5. These Sugar Cones Just Got a Major Upgrade (Cupcakes and Cashmere) // I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!  If you love ice cream (and sprinkles!) as much as I do, then you're going to get a kick out of these fancy sugar cones that you can decorate at home.  These just may give Ben & Jerry's a run for their money...

june. // the. list.

Despite already being over halfway through June (how?!), I wanted to share a snapshot of some things that I'm currently loving and/or lusting after.  With this Sunday marking the official first day of summer, everything included in the "june list" is FUN + upbeat + effortless.  Take a peek below!

june. the. list.

1. Annie Costello Simple Scallop Cuff (Clare Vivier) // It's no secret that I have a teeny obsession with scallops. This pretty cuff is no exception.  I love how minimalist and simple it is — perfect for wearing by itself or stacking with another bracelet.
2. Woven Straw d'Orsay Flats with Ankle Tie (J.Crew) // Is it really summer if you don't have straw d'Orsay flats?  I say no.
3. Skinny Liquid Liner (Eyeko) // Relatively speaking, I am not a makeup junkie.  Aside from eyeliner and mascara, I don't typically get too excited for new products. Considering this skinny liquid liner has Alexa Chung's seal of approval, I'm more than willing to give it a try.
4. Hello Goodbye T (Chinti & Parker) // I'm pretty sure I've never met a stripe that I didn't like. This t-shirt by Chinti & Parker is simply adorbs. When styled with white jeans or the quintessential LWS ("little white skirt"), how can you resist?
5. Earla Printed Stretch-Cotton Skirt (Alice + Olivia) // This skirt was made for twirling. The tropical parrot print and flattering silhouette make it an A+ in my book.
6. Lauren B. Beauty (Net-a-Porter) // Add some major pop to your current mani (or pedi) with one of Lauren B. Beauty's fast-drying polishes.  I'm currently smitten with this vibrant shade of teal called "Venice Beach Venus."
7. Frosties Textured-Leather Shoulder Bag (Anya Hindmarch) // In the words of Tony the Tiger, this bag is GRRREAT! In all seriousness though, I do get a kick out of this bag every time I see it simply because it's Tony!
8. Zoey Round Sunglasses (Henri Bendel) // Shades for summer... how groundbreaking?!  I'm still not sure how I feel about white frames, but these would certainly be a drastic change from my classic tortoiseshell sunnies.
9. Nuria Leather T-Strap Sandal (Club Monaco) // #BowsOnToes, that's all I'm sayin'.  From day to night, these stunning black t-strap sandals will elevate any look.
10. Foldover Clutch (Clare Vivier) // Behold, the perfect clutch to hold just the essentials. In my mind, Clare Vivier can do wrong. I'm also obsessing over this clutch covered in the cutest tennis ball print everrr.

splurge. vs. save. | pining. for. pineapples.

Oh-em-gee, pineapples are literally popping up everywhere!  Next to flamingos, this tropical fruit is the epitome of summer.  Am I right?!  The moment I stumbled upon Forever 21's pineapple ring, I knew that It was meant to be. I wish that I was exaggerating.  (In fact, I actually ended up snagging this said ring over Memorial Day weekend when they were offering free shipping.)  As the pictures show online, it's a teeny-tiny pineapple, but I think that's what makes it so cute + whimsical. Although I haven't incorporated it into any of my outfits yet, just you wait, I will soon enough! Accompanying #ootd photos to come...
forever 21 |  pineapple ring ($4)
Speaking of pineapples, they also appear to be serving as the inspiration behind Kate Spade's June arrivals. From a pineapple clutch to earrings, KSNY is clearly pining for pineapples just as much as I am. Coincidentally enough, I purchased my F21 pineapple ring before discovering that pineapples were having a major sartorial moment over at Kate Spade.

kate spade  |  "anyway you slice it" pendant ($98)
How adorable is this pineapple pendant? Although it's a bit of a splurge, KSNY quality never disappoints.  (I have a Kate Spade bow ring and it's pretty much a regular fixation in my wardrobe.) I can already imagine the endless ways that the "Anyway You Slice It" pendant could be styled... with a pretty white eyelet dress, a chambray button-down, a palm tree printed top... need I go on?

Are you as obsessed with pineapples as I am?  Would you splurge or save (or both)?  Let me know in the comments below!

what. i. wore. | style. chameleon.

relaxed tee (in grey)  |  striped shorts (similar)  |  floral scarf  |  dainty necklace
When it comes to defining my personal style, I often find myself all over the place. Normally, I "aim" for a more classic preppy look (think anything by J.Crew, stripes + ballet flats), but other times I gravitate towards effortless pieces that err a smidge on the boho side.  But then again, I'm also really girly.  Sigh.  Sometimes I wish that that my style could be more consistent, but what fun would that be?!  Haha.

The outfit that I'm sharing today was from Memorial Day Weekend.  The temps were hot and I just wanted to wear something that would be comfortable and easy-breezy.  I'm not sure why, but when I look at this outfit, something about it screams West Coast — just FYI, I'm an East Coast girl.

what. i. wore.  Sometimes it pays to shop in the children's section.  The last time I was in Old Navy I stumbled upon this cute floral scarf (and a scalloped belt, not pictured) for less than $10. I'm all for fun of-the-moment accessories and don't feel the need to spend a fortune on them.  Another budget-friendly find that I recently acquired was this cute Eiffel Tower charm necklace.  For less than $4, it's such a steal — I highly recommend snatching one up before they sell out!  I myself can't wait to pair it with striped shirts and anything navy.  #navyornothing

One more thing that I love: t-shirts, even better when they're striped.  At Gap, I found this jersey striped tee (in pink!) with elbow-length sleeves in the clearance section. While I'm perfectly fine with the sleeve length, I folded them this go-around for a more pulled-together look.  Lastly, the striped denim shorts that I wore were a sale find from Anthropologie last fall. I'm always looking for shorts and these were just quirky enough to catch my attention.

How do you define your signature style?  Tell me in the comments below!
