2016. best. nine.

I'm not sure how 2016 is already in the books, but here we are. All in all, the past year was just okay. It wasn't great, it wasn't horrible — the past 12 months honestly just whizzed by as I struggled to get anything done (hello, writer's block and lack of direction in life). If you know me, then you know that I'm not big on resolutions. While that hasn't changed, I was thinking of creating a list of blog resolutions, which I hope to share with you by the end of the week (but we all know how that goes). Despite my lack of blog posts lately, I realize that I do enjoy having this corner of the internet to share all my current fashion obsessions, inspirations and occasional outfit snippets. With that said, I'm excited to get back on the blogging bandwagon in 2017 with a fresh perspective and content that inspires me to keep posting. Until then, I'm sharing my top nine Instagram posts (you can follow along at @a_wilmer) from 2016. Enjoy!

What are your hopes + ambitions for the new year? Let me know in the comments below!

five. for. friday.

Apologies for the radio silence here on the blog lately! Between the busy holiday season, writer’s block and just stress in general, my mind has been all over the place. Something tells me that I’m not the only one who feels this way. As 2016 quickly comes to a close and you find yourself scrambling to stay on top of final exams, holiday shopping, blogging, end-of-year projects — you name it — I think it’s important to take a second to just breathe. But seriously, You’ve. Got. This.

With all that being said, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite links (primarily videos, actually!) from the week. Check ‘em out below for a designated “study break” or snuggle up with a cup of tea as a way to wind down the weekend. No Sunday scaries here :)

1. Concrete Poetry (via Mitchell Phun) // Wow. I follow Mitchell Phun, a photography student at Parsons, on Instagram and I’m so in love with his minimalist New York City aesthetic. For his final project of the semester, he compiled a video that juxtaposes fashion with a big city backdrop.

2. Inside Monling Lee’s Closet (Coveteur) // Another one of my favorite Igers — Monling Lee, an architect and color enthusiast — recently had her closet spotlighted on the Coveteur. Take one glance at her colorful Insta feed (and equally eccentric style) and and you’ll see why I’m so enthralled with her solid-hued wardrobe neatly organized by the brightest brights. Can you say #goals?

3. Come Together – Directed by Wes Anderson starring Adrien Brody (via H&M) // H&M went all out for their Christmas 2016 ad campaign. Enlisting the assistance of American film director, Wes Anderson, and starring Adrien Brody, the artful film is guaranteed to put you in a holiday spirit.

4. #MissAdventure Season 2, Episode 3: "To the Top" (via Kate Spade) // So. Much. Sass. ICYMI: Miss Piggy is Kate Spade’s latest style muse of the moment, and I’m kind of obsessed. A perfect pairing, amirite? For their holiday installment of the #MissAdventure series, Zosia Mamet and Miss Piggy find themselves inadvertently twinning in the same #OOTD as they share an elevator ride in the Empire State Building en route to a holiday party. My favorite part: That would have to be a cameo by the Man Repeller herself, Leandra Medine!

5. Five Festive Party Look Ideas! (via What Olivia Did) // Ah, I wish I was a British girl. The always lovely Olivia (of What Olivia Did) just shared her top five festive party looks in a vlog, and as per usual, she’s killin’ it with the style recs. Definitely recommended if you’re in need of some fun holiday party outfit inspo!
